If Apple replaces my product for me, is it possible to request for a colour change?

My new MacBook Pro 8th Gen 2020 overheats unnecessarily, I have booked an appointment at the Genius Bar, lets say if Apple replaces my product for me, is it possible if I request for a colour change and they may agree?

Apple promises to repair or replace (at Apple's discretion) parts found to be defective in materials or workmanship for the duration of the warranty period, as extended by buying AppleCare PLUS.

They almost NEVER replace your entire computer. And if they do, Policy demands that it be replaced with EXACTLY the same model. (Doing otherwise would encourage Users to sabotage their computers to get a color change.)

Also, you are missing the opportunity to discuss overheating here on the forums.

We usually find that Most Macs are NOT "over-heating", unless the get so close to 100 degrees C that they sometimes emergency power-down to prevent damage.

Sometimes they are getting HOTTER that the User expected, especially when an external display is attached or they are doing other hard work.

I have already started a discussion for my MacBook Pro overheating. It is also true that Most Macs don't overheat, Apple is a very reliable company! However sometimes there can be a problem but Apple service is fantastic and they have also replaced my AirPods for me! This morning I called Apple Support he asked me to do a software update and I am sort of still worried so I booked my self a reservation at the Genius Bar!

Thank you for your help

"Don’t put anything over the keyboard."

I assume Apple now recommends against clamshell mode, where the MacBook is kept closed. Is that a correct assumption?

No. as long as you don't put a membrane over the keyboard, and do not block the air intakes on the sides or the air exit at the rear, Closed Clamshell mode is not thought to cause extreme heating.

Thanks for the comment.

Well, after two swollen battery replacements on the 15.4" 2016 model and one just last week on the 15.4" 2019 model, I was hoping this might be an explanation. In clamshell mode, I had the MBP on a hard surface at the top of my desk with sides and rear exhaust areas clear. From an animated GIF posted earlier, it looked like the air comes in from the hinge area at the top of the keyboard and out the exhaust slot at the back.

In any case, I won't be using clamshell mode any longer with my external monitor. I actually like the butterfly keyboard and it is nice having the additional screen real estate.
