Charging old iPod (model A1040)

Hi, I have a really old iPod - the one with buttons and although I have the firewire charging cable I don't have the adapter plug. I understand that it will only charge with the firewire cable. Other than buying an adapter plug is there any other way of charging the iPod? I wondered whether there was a firewire to USB cable that I could use? Any help gratefully received.
