apple watch

I have a apple watch series 3. I was wanting to add cellular to the watch. I called my provider and was told I needed a imei number? or something like that. my watch does not have that number on the back or in my general settings. From what I know the series 3 has this capability. but was told without that number they cant provide that service. was curious if yo had any info for me to help get that set up?
