I know you did the SMC Reset however try again with the instructions in the following link. Do the same with resetting the NVRAM.
Point #4 above, if you need to reinstall the macOS then that is the option.

Can you run First Aid on your drive by following the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support.

Non of the above worked. Do you think it might be a hardware issue and requires the hard drive replacement? Thx
What exactly happened when you used the macOS Recovery mode and attempted to reinstall the macOS?

I reinstalled the macOS fine. Software works but it is very slow, colorful spinning wheel is still there, and fan is noisy.
