Is your Apple wWatch promoting for the passcode, and somehow not showing the numeric keypad?
If you’re prompted for the passcode and not seeing the numeric keypad, tried rebooting the Watch?
Apple Watch can be set to unlock on your arm, when the paired iPhone is unlocked. Is that possibly happening here?
