Having to quickly double tap apps to open phone

When I have my apps to where you can openly see them it used to just let me swipe and go to the app I want to now I have to quickly double tap to open an app ^^^^^

To go to the Home screen, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen (on an iPhone with Face ID) or press the Home button (on other iPhone models). Swipe left or right to browse apps on other Home screen pages. To open an app, tap its icon on the Home screen. Open apps on the iPhone Home screen - Apple Support
