iphone randomly mutes during phone calls

In the last week or so my phone randomly mutes during phone calls, i cant hear anything and they cant hear anything. Sometimes it mutes after 10 seconds sometimes 1 minute. Facebook audio call lasted 5 minutes then muted. I tried on speaker, without speaker, volume is on full and nothing on the screen is being touched. I just updated my phone to the latest software (iOS 13.5.1) thinking that may fix it, the problem is still there. I havnt tried fully resetting my phone back to factory, ive read online that this often doesnt work anyway.


My phone is an iPhone 8 plus - brought about 2 years ago brand new


Please help!!!

This seems like your carrier issue, Contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider) The agency who issued the SIM to you.


Call Muted, Failed or Dropped Calls / Disconnecting

In telecommunications, a dropped-call / Auto Disconnecting Calls / Call-Failed Muted conversation are mainly due to technical reasons / fault at the carrier's end. At times the calls are cut off before the speaking parties had finished their conversation and before one of them had hung up (dropped calls or Call Failed or Auto Disconnection or muted calls).


Few Reasons Your device Keeps Muting / Dropping / Disconnecting Calls or encounter Call Failed.

  • Your Signal Is Weak.
  • It's Raining (Cats & Dog)
  • The Cell Tower Is Overloaded / Heavy Traffic (Telecommunication)
  • You've Misunderstood Your Signal Strength
  • You are moving and the signal weakens while changing from one tower to another
