Send group message to iphone and android users

So I am not normally a group message guy, but recently I re-activated an old Galaxy S6 for my daughter to use. So the issue we are having is group messages. I can send from the Android device to my wife's iPhone and my iPhone, and it comes in as a text message as expected, but when either my wife or I reply it wants to use iMessage (i.e. sends a blue). If I turn off iMessage I can reply and the android device will get the message (shows green), but as soon as I turn iMessage back on it wants to use iMessage rather than MMS (returns to blue).

Separate texts to the android device work fine with iMessage enabled (show green).

Hey there, Frozen001.

It sounds like you have some questions about sending group messages. You mentioned that your iPhone and your wife’s iPhone try to send iMessages rather than SMS.

Navigate to Settings > Messages. Do you have “Send as SMS” enabled or disabled? You’ll want to make sure this is on, so that you can send SMS messages to your daughter. Send a group text message on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Please don’t hesitate to reach back out if you have further questions or if I have an incorrect understanding of the issue.

All the best.

I can send SMS fine and yes it is enabled. The issue is with one contact (my daughters Android phone) it keeps wanting to send as iMessage. and if I do not catch the imessage soon enough to change it to send as SMS (hold the blue bubble) then the message is lost.

Every other non-iOS contact I have there are no issues, just my daughters Android device..

Hey, Frozen001.

Thanks for the information. To clarify, did your daughter ever use an iPhone with her current phone number? If so, she may need to deregister from iMessage. Deregister iMessage on your iPhone or online - Apple Support

If not, please remove your daughters contact from your iPhone and add it back. Manage and delete contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Warmly.
