I bought a new Macbook Pro 16 touchbar 2019 today, and upon first boot, the display staid black and the voice over utility turned on.
I tried resetting the SMC but to no avail. Any ideas?

Time to return it.
Okay, managed to complete the setup process using the voice over utility, but internal display still isn't being detected. I tried all the usual, resetting SMC, PRAM, boot into safe mode, nothing worked. I managed to verify that the computer itself is working by hooking it up to an external monitor via a dongle.
Internal display is not even detected in system information. Any ideas?
