Restoring iPhone w/ broken side button

How can i erase my phone if find my phone is turned off and I cannot turn it back on b/c my phone doesn't work? I have it plugged into the computer and itunes says it cannot find my phone.

iPhone 8, iOS 13

What should I do when the phone doesn’t respond to the update and restore? I’ve tried to do the restore and update no less than 10 times. The phone won’t turn on bc the side button is broken so I have to plug it into the computer.
