Age verification in Korea between iphone and Mac

Hi,

I recently switched my account from US to Korea.

Due to the age restriction in Korea, Apple music on my MacBook cannot play explicit music (I'm over 19).

It looks like I have to verify my age from iPhone.

However, using the same account, iPhone does play explicit music, which means I am verified already in it.

Why do iPhone and MacBook act differently?

When I click one from MacBook, it says, " This content has an age restriction. To play it, install the latest software update and follow the steps when asked to verify your age."

I updated apple music app and still it does not bring me to the verification steps on MacBook.

Is there a way for me to play explicit music from MacBook?

musicjinlee,

I'm glad you decided to reach out on the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you’re not able to listen to explicit content on your Mac, but you are on your iPhone.

Have you had a chance to check the Music or iTunes app on your Mac to see if you have it set to restrict explicit content?

Open either Music or iTunes (whichever you use) and go to Preferences > Restrictions.

If you’re running macOS Catalina, this will guide you:

If you’re using macOS Mojave or earlier, this will guide you:

Take care.

Hi, musicjinlee .

Being able to listen to explicit content on your iPhone but not your MacBook can be confusing. What macOS version are you running? You mentioned it prompts you to update and verify your age on your MacBook. Do you have any updates available?

If you open the iTunes/Music Store (not Apple Music) and just play a preview of an explicit song (you don't have to purchase is), are you prompted to allow explicit content?

Add and download music from Apple Music or buy music from the iTunes Store - Apple Support

I would also double-check to confirm that you're logged into the same Apple ID on both devices.

All my best.
