I am eager to recover Numbers files going back to 2007 which I have lost, not certain why. I tried the free Recoverit but could not understand the options. I could not see "Numbers" anywhere. Would the paid version definitely recover files deleted from the Trash on MacBook Pro. Does anyone have experience of this?

I see, you deleted the folder from the trash as well. I have not used recovery software recently but my experience from the past is they are spotty at best. The more you use your computer, the less chance you have of recovering a deleted file. Even then, they are typically corrupted in some way. Files that have more complicated internal formats (like Numbers) are unlikely (though not impossible) to be recoverable. One little error might render the whole file unusable.
Is there 3rd Party ware which will recover deleted Numbers files?
