iPhone 5s and Apple Watch compatibility

I'm thinking about buying an apple watch (probably series 3) but it says you need an iPhone 6s or later running IOS 13. Would it work with my 5s with IOS 12?

No. As you noticed, you need an iPhone 6s with iOS 13. An iPhone 5s with iOS 12 does not match the requirement.

No it won't work,as you correctly stated you will need an iphone 6s or higher.The only other option is to get a watch that has watchOS5 or lower,a new watch 3 has watchOS6.
