How about syncing play count between Apple Music and iTunes?

Hello,

I use an iPod Touch and iTunes on my computer (Windows 10) with the latest version available.

When I suscribed to Apple Music (and sync my iCloud library), my play count is not updated from my iPod to my iTunes (and inversively also).

I test it also with the Android app and I faced the same problem.

Sometimes a song play count is updated, sometimes it seems impossible (with exactly the same settings!).

Is it still possible to sync music with Apple Music and iCloud?

I understand I can still do it by the manual way but what about the Apple Music songs play count?

Thank you for your help!

iPod, iOS 12

Hello, thibaut257.

I understand that you have some questions about play counts and their relation to Apple Music and the Sync Library. I’m glad to look into this with you.

If your play counts aren’t syncing across your devices, there are a few settings I would look at first.

  • Make sure that "Use Listening History" is checked in iTunes on the PC.

  • Make sure that "Sync playback information across all devices" is checked in iTunes under iTunes > Preferences > Store.

  • On the iPhone, make sure that "Sync Library" is turned on at Settings > Music.

  • Cellular Data may need to be turned on for it to sync info instantly.

  • All devices are signed in with the same Apple ID.

You can also check out Apple Music Replay on the web

"With Apple Music Replay, you can relive the music that defined your year. Get insights into your most played artists and albums. And get a playlist with your top songs of the year — and one for every year that you’re subscribed to Apple Music."

Be Well.
