Someone has told me that software updates contain the ability to do contact tracing for COVID. Is this true?

Is it true that the latest software updates for the iPhone include contact tracing abilities for COVID-19? Someone told me this, and I want to verify.

No. False.

The iOS 13.5 software update contains an API, a set of instructions that can let an government app to do contact tracing.

However, at this time there is no App that can do this, and you would still not only need to download the App once it actually exists but enable the option to let the App do contact tracing too.

As it stands now, there is no contact tracing on your phone.
