Little Blue Corner

Ok, I'm pretty good with iPhones ... This one, however got me... just in the last hour, before syncing my phone with iTunes for the night. I noticed a little blue tab over my signal bars ... what is that for? It's cool, I like it, it even shadows when the status bar is gray. but I updated to 4.0.1 yesterday or day before (my days get mixed up) and this thing just now appears.

Anything would be appreciated ...

btw, I do have a screen shot if anyone would like to see...

Hi,

Also getting this small blue triangle.

I noticed that it appeared after updating a couple of apps via the App Store

After reading other posts regarding this, users have been able to get rid of this by swiping to the Spotlight page.

Also been searching the developer manuals to no avail either...

Its a weird one, especially since you cant just replicate it whenever you want.

I just appeared on my phone too (iPhone 4)! I thought my screen was going bad (dead pixels or something like that), but it's clearly a software thing. It appeared for me while I was using Safari and put the phone in to landscape mode, as soon as I put it in to portrait it goes away, put it in to landscape and it comes back. Plus it now seems to happen in other apps too (Mail for instance).

Hi!
I recently had a family member ask me why they're iPod touch had a wierd blue corner on it after they had updated it.She was sure it was broken.

What I ended up figuring out is that whenever you have any unread messages, it puts that blue tab thing on the corner on the top to tell you.

Just try marking all your messages as read and see if it goes away.

Thanks for your help. However, having the iPhone for 3 years and still only that day, that I had the blue corner. It stayed in the same corner whether is was horizontal or not.

I'm "glad" to hear that there are other with this problem, however ... we still don't have an answer regarding what it is or could be ...

Thanks to everyones interest in my topic .. maybe one day apple inc will get on here and tell us.

I have the same thing.

It seems to appear pretty consistently anytime I "update all" from the App Store on 4.0.1. Might have been there in 4.0 also?

It appears on screenshots, so isn't a hardware problem.

It has a drop shadow under it, which would lead me to believe that it's a composted layer of some sort.

It never so much as flickers when switching from app to app or back and forth from the springboard.

Swiping to the "spotlight" view of springboard or power-cycling are the only two things I've found that get rid of it.
