I installed the latest Catalina version (10.15.5) last night and today I can’t connect to any https servers. Any suggestions to fix? Thanks.

That is likely your problem! The best security and antivirus app for Mac OS is Mac OS itself! If simply kept up-to-date and otherwise left alone Mac OS will remain secure, stable and fast. Adding third party antivirus apps, cleaning apps and other types of "maintenance" apps have the exact opposite effect on Mac OS that you want, they make Mac OS slow, unstable and appear buggy.

Please locate the Avast uninstall instructions provided by their developers and uninstall. Then restart in Safe Mode and restart normally to re-test.
