I can't get my Facebook Messenger to stay connected to my phone.

I can't get my facebook messenger to stay connected to my phone. I've rebooted my phone and watch also deleted the app on both to reinstall and it will work but disconnects once i leave the app. Please Let me know how i can fix this problem. Thank you
