Palm rest use with 2020 MacBook air

Is it true that using a palm rest and keyboard cover with the new 2020 MacBook Air is not recommended?

If Apple said it, then it is so. Anything on the keyboard may press into the display and ruin the image or damage the display. This is less a problem in older, heavier laptops. It has become more of a problem as the laptops have gotten so much thinner in order to keep them light. I would take their advice.

Furthermore, anything that covers the case can interfere with heat dissipation because the case is a major part of the heat dissipation system.

Hi Kappy, thanks for responding. I saw it on the Apple website! Here is exactly what it says (I copied and pasted from website):

Do not use palm rest or keycap covers on a Mac notebook with a Retina display

Leaving any material on the top case (keyboard and palm rest area) could result in damage to the display when you close it.

To enable the thin design of Mac notebook computers with a Retina display, the clearance between the display and the top case is engineered to tight tolerances. Do not use palm rest covers or keycap covers, as the additional thickness may interfere with the designed closed position of the display.
