How can I add this device to my Apple iTunes account and downloaded my purchased music

If the songs were purchased from the iTunes Store since 2009, they are in unprotected AAC format and will work in most models of Sandisk player. If you no longer have the files on your computer, get new copies by this procedure: Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books - Apple Support


However, iTunes/Music does not have the ability to sync a Sandisk the way it does with an iDevice. Follow the instructions that came with your player.
