I have emails automatically going to trash that should be sent to my inbox instead. How do i change this?

It is an outside email provider but when I log into it directly, my messages are in the inbox? I use an iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Is there somewhere I need to be checking on each device to find out if the are set up to go to the trash?
Assuming that you are using an IMAP Mailbox for your email on iPad, does you email provider specify a custom “Path” parameter for email?
Settings > Passwords & Accounts > [Your Mailbox] > Account > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix
“/“ is default; your email provider may require/specify something else.
