You return your Apple Watch, as it MUST have an iPhone.
The GPS only Apple Watch depends on the iPhone for radio support.
The Cellular Apple Watch shares the iPhone's phone number.
You cannot use an iPad even it has a cellular data connection.
And you cannot use the Apple Watch solo. It must have an iPhone.
The iPhone needs to be a 6s, SE (1 or 2), 7, or newer iPhone.
Apple does have a 14-day return period.
