So i have an ipod that was given to me a long time ago from a friend, and when i go to try and listen to it. it says something about do not disconnect and when i do disconnect it, it says ok to disconnect. Than when it actually decides to come on, it tells me to connect to itunes to restore! But i dont know my friends itunes info, so i dont know how to restore it or at least update it?!

Providing that there is no password or Activation Lock on the iPod (which you will see when you turn it on), simply connect the iPod to iTunes and follow the prompts to Restore it. You do not need anything from your friend.
