How to disconnect apple watch from old, broken iPhone?

Hi,

I just installed my new iPhone XS, and I wish to connect it to my Apple watch series 3. Unfortunately, my apple watch is still connected to my old iPhone 7+, wish had some sort of malfunction that led it to shut down. I'm not able to use my old iPhone, because it is completely dead. I've been reading on the apple support webpage, but I can't seem to get it right. How do I disconnect my apple watch to my old iPhone, without the iPhone?

Erase Apple Watch and settings

Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
Go to General > Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then enter your passcode.
If you have an Apple Watch with a cellular plan, you’re offered two options—Erase All and Erase All & Keep Plan. To completely erase your Apple Watch, choose Erase All. If you want to erase and then restore it with your cellular plan in place, choose Erase All & Keep Plan.

On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

Go to Find Iphone.

Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.

Click Erase Apple Watch.

Select Next until the device is erased.

Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
