If I purchase an iMac today what version of Catalina will it ship with.

I run a recording studio and am in need of an upgrade. I currently use pro tools for all of my sessions and see that pro tools 2020 will only work with Catalina 10.15.3 (at the time of writing this) if I purchase an imac today what version of Catalina will be installed? Pro tools is slow to adapt to new updates although if I purchase a new machine that will work, I’m sure within the next year or so I can update it.

please help!

It is impossible for fellow users to determine what specific version of Catalina will be on any newly purchased Mac — whether purchased directly from Apple (or other source). It would vary based on the build date, version of Catalina available at that time, shipping delay, and inventory duration. You won't know until you boot up, and check the menu : About This Mac.

Simply update the new iMac if needed if it has an older version

before installing or migrating anything.
