This error message still applies with the latest macOS 10.15.5, FontExplorer X Pro and Photoshot 2020. This is not a macOS issue. The error message occurs when FEX is not running when opening a photo. If FEX is open first, then you open a photo file, no error message. When you look at the FEX plugin info, it states that the current version is 3.5.6 and made for Photoshop CC 2015. So it sounds like they haven't updated the Photoshop version in a long while.

Just open FontExplorer X Pro first, before Photoshop, or just uninstall the plugin.
