I have a MacBook Pro, 15", mid 2010. do I reset the SMC by removing the battery? the article talks about 2009 models and earlier.
I'm having problems with the battery holding a charge.
If your MacBook Pro battery is removable then-

I've done that, just in case.
I replaced the battery.
I replaced a bad power cord and charger.
I've reset the NVRAM/PRAM.
I've repaired and verified Disk Permissions.
still, at best, I get 2 ½ to 3 hours of battery life.
what else could be the problem?
okay, I'll trust your opinion. for some reason I thought I got longer when it was new.
mostly I use it when I'm in bed so I can plug it in easily. I was afraid my logic board was going.

You know, for a 2010 MacBook Pro, 3 hours is not such a bad thing. I remember when I could barely get over 3.5 hours when it was new 10 years ago.
