I am very disappointed that my iPhone 7 does not have a sms delivery report - something to show me my sms has been delivered to the recipient. Why should android users enjoy this feature while us Apple users can’t. Yes Iphone to iPhone there is but not iPhone to Android. This is disappointing

That is true. In that experiment, the iPhone calls it a successful SEND and once the other person gets online then will receive the SMS messages. However, I see what you are saying. You would like real time status like the iMessages. Understood.

Just wanted to elaborate further on your subject of SMS delivery report. When a SMS message does not go through then the sender of the SMS message gets notified in the Messages app with a Circle and a Red exclamation point.

I switched off the other (non iPhone) phone and sent it an sms again. There is no notification whatsoever whether the recipient phone is off and therefore the sms is unable to be delivered. All messages are just green and only the time you sent the message is displayed.
