AirPort Utility cannot find base station?

I've dug out an old AirPort Express 802.11/n base station, to use as a wifi provider from our work Cisco 800 series router (which has no wifi).

Connected to router, powered up, constant flashing amber light. Open up AirPort Utlity on my iPhone. Green light = Internet. Message at bottom of phone screen says "No AirPort base stations have been found. AirPort Utility will conntinue searching."

Phone is right next to bast station, shouldn't need ot look very hard!

So, I have good internet connection between base station and phone, but flashing amber on base station. On iPhone wifi settings , it shows the connection as an unsecured network.

How can I set the base station up with with security and password?

Start over and set up the AirPort Express from scratch.

Power up the Express If it is not already on

Hold in the reset button on the Express for 7-8 seconds and release

Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow blinking amber light status

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on the Cisco router to the WAN "O" port on the Express. If the Express only has one Ethernet port, connect to that port

On the iPhone......

Go to the Home screen

Tap on Settings

Tap on WiFi

Tap on AirPort Express under the listing of Set Up New AirPort Base Station

Follow the prompts to set up the Express to create a WiFi network. Might be a good idea to write down the password and keep it in a safe place.

Once the Express is set up, AirPort Utility will be able to access the device for updates, etc. You may need to enter the password the first time that AirPort Utility connects to the Express.
