Phone Number

I want to give my younger brother my old phone. I’ve changed all of the settings and passwords except for the actual phone number itself. I was wondering how I would go about actually changing the phone number for good so that it’s not my phone number. I would need to set up a completely new number. How would I do that?

iPhone 8, iOS 13

  1. Wipe the phone. See here: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Eject the sim card if it still has your service. See here: Remove or switch the SIM card in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  3. Contact the carrier / cellular service provider you wish to use, and request a new line. They will give you a new sim card with a new number you can insert into the iPhone. You or your brother will need to pay for the service for his new number.
