External drive space for Time Machine
With a MacBook Air 512GB internal drive, I'm wondering if 1TB is enough space. I do realize old backups are erased when the drive is full.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

The normal recommendation is two to three times the size of your internal. It should be fine. It just affects how far back in time things are backed up.
You're welcome. 4TB is more than enough.
You're welcome. No Benchmark. I have 5 Macs and only one has a drive larger than two times the internal. That's only because it was on sale. :)
No idea how far backups should go. Oldest are dumped to create space.
Is there a benchmark?
Thanks!
I'll go with that. The Air in question needs more that the one TB available. Already bought a 4TB to replace.
Thanks!
