Xfinity hotspots

I don’t know if anyone can help me, but the internet has not been helpful and neither was Comcast.

I am an xfinity customer. Back in the winter, I thought I connected correctly to an xfinity WiFi hotspot. However, for some reason every time I try to connect to one, nothing works on my phone. It connects me, I appear to be online, but all of my apps and my email don’t work. It stinks, because I’ll be out walking in my neighborhood and automatically connect to a hotspot near a main road. I’ll need to do something on my phone, and I can’t, so then I have to turn of the WiFi. When I get home, I forget and end up blowing through data because I’m no on the WiFi.

Honestly, I have tried “forget this network” and every time, same problem. I can find instructions online fir how to connect to Xfinity WiFi hotspots with an iPhone, but no troubleshooting. Any super techy iPhone users that can help me?
