Trade in Apple Watch 3 after buying new series 5

I just bought a new series 5 2 days ago. I purchased online with a store pick up and at the time did not know if I wanted to trade in my series 3 or keep it. The store rep told me I could either do it online or come back to the store within 14 days and "return" the paperwork for the new watch and re-"buy" it and get the trade in value. I can't find any way online to do anything but get an Apple gift card for the trade. Is there a way to just get a credit on the card we purchased the new watch on? I don't want the gift card and would rather not go to the store in our area due to lots of new COVID cases.

Hello grada1,

Thanks for posting. If I understand correctly, you want to know if you can receive a reimbursement on a credit card for an Apple Watch trade-in rather than a gift card. Is that right?

This resource covers the options for trade-in: Apple Trade In - Apple. Based on the text below, it looks like it may not be possible to receive a credit back to a card:

"Trade in your eligible device for credit toward your next purchase, or get an Apple Store Gift Card you can use anytime."

For any follow-up questions, I recommend contacting Apple: Contacting Apple

Have a good day.
