Setting up my new iPad Pro

I just got the new iPad Pro. I started the setup last night, and I went to bed with it still loading, “It may take a few minutes to set up your Apple ID...” it’s been 10 hours and fifty minutes — still on the same screen. I spent several hours yesterday, before the eleven hours, powering off, and rebooting it after a three hour wait, following another two hour wait. I have always had a very positive experience in setting up Apple products. Has it taken anyone else this long? Is this normal? What should I do?

A forced-restart may be helpful - as this often resolves isolated issues:


  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On an iPad with Face ID: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.




If your iPad doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.
