Photos replaced iPhoto several years ago. To use Photos with your iPhoto, Launch Photos with the option key held down. From the resulting dialog choose your iPhoto library. Photos will create a new library with your iPhoto media. your iPhoto library will not be changed.

From what system did you upgrade to Catalina? How did you do it?
Thank you Keith. The iPhoto ;library was not shown in the dialogue. There was a phot library from 2018 but it would not open.

Did you have your iPhoto Library on an external drive? Did you move it somewhere else? Is this a new computer or a Catalina Upgrade?
Did you try a spotlight search to look for iPhoto Library?
Same computer, 27 in mac with Catalina. There does not appear to be an iPhoto library but there i an iPhoto library upgrader in spotlight.
I do have an older time machine which probably has the iPhoto in it.
Upgrading to Catalina should not have moved the library.
jut followed the prompts whatever the old system was. I supposedly had migrated, with the help of an apple advisor, iPhoto in photo but the albums are not here, at least named the way that had them
