HEIC photos

MY PHOTOS SAY HEIC AFTER THEM. I WANT TO STOP MY MAC FROM SAVING PHOTOS as HEIC

It is not your Mac that is creating the HEIC files. Photos for Mac cannot even export photos in the HEIC format.

Your iPhone or iPad may be taking the photos in the High Efficiency format.

OT already explained how to disable HEIC on your iPhone or iPad, but if you do that, the new photos will need twice the amount of storage.

How are you transferring the photos from the iPhone or iPad to your Mac? Are you using iCloud Photos or are you downloading the photos using a USB connection? You could keep the iOS devices using the space saving HEIC format and download the photos as JPEGs from the iOS devices.
