Simplifying iPad for Dementia Patients

My mother is a nursing home resident with severe dementia but she remembers and misses family. She was never good with technology.

Can anyone point me to the best articles, instructions, and websites on how to best simplify iPad use. FaceTime would probably be most important.

I don’t have an iPad, yet. I still don’t know if she can operate one. Thank you

Hello,

The easiest way to set her iPad up would be to use Apple’s Shortcuts application. This would allow you to place an icon in her iPad’s home screen that could directly start a FaceTime call with anyone you specify. For instance, you could set an icon on her iPad’s Home Screen that has a photo of you and when tapped it automatically starts a new FaceTime call.

You may also wish to not use a passcode on this iPad which may confuse her in the long run.
