Storage “other” category

So I’m trying to clear room on my iPhone7 and for some reason the more apps or photos I delete the more “other” storage increases in size. It’s currently at 18.83 GB, and I don’t understand why it increases from deleting apps and I don’t understand how to lower that amount of storage that category is using. Like what kind of files could be in the “other” category in storage that use up 18.83 GB of space??

Hello,

The "Other" category on your iPhone and iPad is basically where all of your caches, settings preferences, saved messages, voice memos, and… well, other data is stored. There is no simple way to identify and remove data in the Other storage category. With a bit of patience, you can reduce the amount of space it takes up on your iPhone or iPad.
