disable Safari split screen feature in iOS for iPad

How can I completely DISABLE Safari split screen feature in iOS for iPad? It’s a royal pain in the butt! When I try to move any tabs anywhere near the edge of the screen this miserable “feature” creates a stupid split screen, then when I try to close it, I end up losing all of my saved tabs! I frequently end up losing all of my opened tabs when this happens through no intent on my part! I absolutely DO NOT want a work around to restore my tabs! I want to COMPLETELY DISABLE this excuse for a “feature”! I hate it! I have to spend many hours trying to search to find and recover my deleted tabs because of this terrible “feature”!

iPad Pro, iPadOS 13
