I have a type C hub for my macbook pro. It has two HDMI ports, when i plug in two monitors they only mirror each other. How can i have them as two separate extended desktops

go into system preferences, then Display and turn Mirroring off

it is only detecting 2 screens, one as my laptop and second as my monitor. The monitors are mirroring each other. I want to use 3 if possible. The mirror check box is unchecked.
And if i do close my lid it only picks up as 1 monitor
