I have a used macbook pro running El Captain, I have no passwords how can I use it

I recently received a dead friends' macbook pro. I can't use it as I don't have her passwords. What do I do?

Hello,

Are you trying to gain access to her account or to completely restore macOS and set the Macintosh up as a new device?

You will not be able to gain access to her data without her password. You can however restore it to factory settings.
