Has anyone had issues with the latest update?

My cousin updated her 2019 Macbook Air and hers refused to turn on after updating! I'm extremely scared of any issues to my computer because I did not purchase with Applecare (I couldn't afford the extra cost). Any advice/ precautions would be GREATLY appreciated!
