Verification Failed Question

I've read several posts and haven't found anything helpful. I have been getting the following error message, "Verification Failed: An unknown error occurred." when trying to sign back into my my Apple ID on my iPhone. The password and username are correct as I am able to use them on my Mac and iPad without issue. I have tried resetting the password and it still doesn't work on my phone but does on my other devices. I tried entering incorrect passwords on purpose to test and I get a different error message than this one. Thoughts on how to resolve this anyone?
