Why doesn’t iPhone SE have Memoji?

If it has the XR chip then why don’t It have Memoji? If it controls depth and the camera sooo good like XR then why don’t it have Memoji? I want to try Memoji🥺

Hi there Mskekem,

It sounds as though you're looking into using Memoji. Utilizing Memoji is a great feature and an awesome way to add to the experience of messaging, we'd be glad to assist in seeking a solution.

Below is a resource that can help:

How to use Memoji on your iPhone or iPad Pro

"You can create a Memoji sticker on any device with iOS 13 or iPadOS, but you need an iPhone X or later, iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later), or iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later) to create and use an animated Memoji."

I hope this helps,

Cheers!

Mskekem,

Thank you for replying back with updated information around what model iPhone you're using. I understand that you're using a new iPhone SE.

The quoted section from the resource above would refer to iPhone X or later devices that have Face ID, below is a resource to devices compatible with animated Memoji:

iPhone and iPad models that support Face ID

Have a great day!

Oh I know what’s compatible I am just confused to why there are a few things left out apart from the 11 chip.

in my opinion I would have actually put what the iPhone 11 has 100% but I do love the phone I do. Just was expecting to have a bit more phone with emojis and messaging you know.

I just hope they don’t slow it down on purpose because I’m not buying another.

unless it’s a bigger size but why do that if theirs an 11 in two different sizes.

so I’m grateful they made this one and that I have since it was a more need than want. Just would have preferred to including everything the 11 has instead of just the chip or camera.

Apple has never, ever slowed down any iPhone “on purpose” unless the battery was weak and if the phone was not slowed down the phone would abruptly shut down under load.

Rather than read bizarre conspiracy nonsense, here is the history of why Apple slowed down devices that had weak batteries, to prevent the device from shutting down in the middle of something important that you were doing—>https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-is-slowing-down-older-iphones-batteries-faq/

And here is Apple’s direct explanation—>iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

See specifically the section on “Preventing unexpected shutdowns."

Note that all phones made since 2017 have had this feature.

Apple DID make one mistake in not announcing this program in advance. It will cost them around $1/2 billon for this error in judgement.
