Can't sign out of Apple ID as it is deleted. (Verification Failed - Cannot find this person.)

Hello, I have a problem regarding my Apple ID/ icloud. A while ago I got a scam email saying I spent $100 in the Apple store and my Dad was very mad at me and he convinced me it was real. Believing him, I signed in (with my Apple ID) on the website and it looked very similar to the official apple.id website. I then soon realized it was a scam as they asked for my social security number. Me being scared, I deleted my Apple ID online and never signed out of it on my iphone 6s. I know the password, have the IMEI number and I have my new Apple ID account linked to my App store but NOT my icloud, etc. I was wondering is there anyway I can sign out of my deleted old apple ID and sign it with my new one for my i cloud as when I put in my password it says verification failed - cannot find this person. Thank you, M.Lyra.

Yes. Several past posters here also neglected to pay attention to the instructions when requesting their AppleID be deleted and they reported that indeed, once the AppleID is deleted, there is nothing anyone can do about devices still signed into the AppleID. Apple cannot restore the AppleID to enable you to sign out once the AppleID is deleted.

Those instructions are there for a reason - failing to follow them will leave you with a useless device.

How to Delete your Apple ID Account https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208504

"Make sure that you sign out of all your devices to avoid issues with apps that use your Apple ID account or iCloud. After your account is deleted, you can't sign out of iCloud or turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock on your devices. If you forget to sign out, you might not be able to use your device when your account is deleted.

Basically, you may not be able to fix problems occurring after deletion if you did not follow the rule. And, if this is your problem, then I think you are seeing an "unfiixable." But, you could try using: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351. Your iCloud content can't be recovered.

if you are the original owner, contact Apple. Apple may be able to remove the Activation Lock if provided the required paperwork. Since you deleted the ID, they may not be able to sign you out Either take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store (if it has reopened)

Yes, it probably is locked forever. But, are you seeing activation lock? The conditions you mentioned earlier could be consistent with activation lock, and you just mentioned "lock forever. Anyway, see Turn off Activation Lock https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201441. I don't imagine you are the original owner of the phone so I'll skip the part about the original owner.

Since you acquired your device second hand, you usually will need to obtain the needed password from the person that last set your device up. If you can’t obtain it, in the rare case your device came activation locked from an authorized Apple seller, then contact Apple Support and present your original purchase receipt for your device with the device’s serial number on it. You’ll need a photo ID too. If you can do neither, then the device is useless to you.

You can use the suggested support options below if you have the needed receipt. Alternatively, if an Apple Store is open in your area, then you can go there to deal with your problem. In this case, you can make a genius-bar appointment (https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/) if you want.
