Unable to make Minecraft purchases

We recently had to get a new iPad to replace ours and everything carried over except Minecraft purchases. Frustrating since we used iTunes money to buy worlds, etc. but I understand how that works. Now when I go on to purchases coins, I keep getting the same error along the lines of "Something went wrong. Check your internet connection." Internet is fine, apps work fine, payment options are fine. Why can't I make these purchases? Anyone else have this issue and, if so, is there a fix?
