I am signed in to the apple mail app on my computer for to access my gmail, but I am no longer signed in on my iPhone. I forgot the password and cannot recover it on my iPhone. Can anyone help?

I finally recovered it. I left it alone for a week and I was able to change the password.
Thank you for this. I have followed those steps and have answered all their question correctly (except last used password) and they will not let me recover the account. Not sure what to do and creating a new Gmail is not an option.
