Changing my iPhone's name

Hello,

I've just bought my first iPhone, a 2016 SE I (A1662, MLMD2LL/A, unlocked). Even though the box was sealed and it looked brand new, I connected it to my Mac and restored it to factory settings, then installed the latest iOS 13.5.1. Because previously I had used an iPod touch only, I restored settings and apps from my latest iPod touch backup. All worked well, only that its name in Finder was set to "user's iPod" too, so I renamed it to "user's iPhone SE", however when I go to https://getsupport.apple.com the renaming did not happen there - it's still called "user's iPod"! What can I do? I wouldn't want to go through the entire setup again and install all my apps manually. Restoring from the iPod backup was so easy!

Many thanks!

That’s odd, but I just noticed in your first post you said that the name of the iPhone originally in the Finder was ”user’siPod” in quotations marks. Were the quotation marks actually in the device name? You also said that it was a brand new 2016 phone. Are you sure that it was brand new. The sealed box means nothing. Before I retired, I owned a print shop that had a shrink wrapper and I could seal any box as long as it fit on the base and would go through the heat tunnel.

In my first post I just added the quotation marks to delimit the displayed text – they were not shown by Finder. Maybe the quotation marks would disappear if I would just call it "user's iPhone" – would this be the default name it would have gotten?

The SE was sold as "new" and should be enough for my current requirement (mainly receiving verification codes!). Even though it really looked brand new, my first action was to restore it to factory settings.

But you are right that "sealed" means nothing, often I bought "new" DVDs which were re-sealed used ones.
