TikTok link opens in Safari instead of the app

I have the same issue, when I get sent tik toks via messenger it opens up in safari and if I want to view the video on tik tok it doesn’t even take me to the app anymore it takes me to the App Store instead?

So I just fixed this problem on my iPhone by accident. I copied the TikTok link from iMessage and pasted in the notes app. THEN click and hold on the link and select “Open in TikTok app” from the popup menu. Now all my TikTok links open in the TikTok app by default once again. 😀

Messenger won’t open TikTok for me. Whenever someone sends me a video, and I try to like it, it takes me to the App Store for the app that I already have downloaded and will not take me to the actual video I was seeing. Tired of all these issues here lately

Just tried something and it worked for me! I clicked the link and it opened in Safari, then scrolled up a bit more until a button showed up across from the Tik Tok app logo that was BLUE and said OPEN, and not the pink one that's below it on the web page, and clicked that and it opened the tik tok in Tik Tok. I closed the Safari tab & opened the link in iMessage and it opened it in Tik Tok by default!

I’ve done all of the things suggested here. I closed my TikTok, message and safari, then restarted my phone. Still didn’t work. Uninstalled TikTok, still doesn’t work. Can someone please fix this?? It’s a problem I didn’t have until a few days ago and it’s incredibly annoying.

Copy the TikTok link, paste into notes app. Then click and hold TikTok link until pop up menu appears. Select “open in TikTok app.” That should fix the problem going forward.

I have the same problem here. Whenever my friend tries to send me tiktok links through whatsapp, the links open through Safari not through the app. Please fix this bug.

We understand that previously when you were sent a TikTok link via Messages the link would open in the TikTok app; now it seems that when you tap on the link it will open in Safari. We can see why you'd reach out about this; we'd like to help. First, we'd recommend trying a "long press" on the link in Messages, this should open a menu with different options for accessing the link. If given the option, select to open the link in TikTok.

If you don't have the option to do this, try these steps next:

• Close Messages, Safari, and TikTok: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
• Restart your iPhone
• Have a friend share a link from the TikTok app to you via Messages and try opening the link again.

I’m having the same problem, and restarting my phone isn’t helping.

delete and reinstall the tiktok app. Solved it for me.

This is by far the easiest solution possible!! Highly recommend doing this it completely fixed it for me!
