Time Machine issues

I have been getting the following Time Machine message: "Machine completed a verification of your backups. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you." It goes on to say, "Click Start New Backup to create a new backup. This will remove your existing backup history. This could take several hours."

I let it back ups several time and still get the same message.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Question marked as Apple recommended

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Any change?

I'm also experiencing the same issue. I tried the steps you recommended but getting the same problem.

I'm using a mid 2017 27" iMac with the latest version of Catalina, 10.15.6, with a Synology DS918+. I'm connected to my network via wifi, could that make a difference backing up to the NAS and causing this issue? Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
